Cleric Blames Society, Leaders Over High Rate Of Killings, Violence In Communities
Rt. Rev. Lebee Humphrey Nnam has blamed the society and leaders of communities for the high rate of killings and violence in the society and State at large.
He made the blame while delivering a sermon titled “Put your House in order”; at the funeral service of late Dr Lucky Kina who was gruesomely murdered in his bedroom in Kpean community of Khana Local Government Area.
Nnam also identified greed and selfishness to be the reasons why community leaders and family heads have failed their community people stressing that when leaders and family heads put self first in the scheme of things, rather than carrying everyone along, violence and killings become inevitable.
“These hoodlums need to be identified with, know their problems because many of them are hungry and has nothing doing, thereby forcing them into one atrocity or the other”, he stated.
The Bishop further advised leaders to always extend their hands of love, care and concern to the less privileged ones in the society so as to reduce crime and criminality from the communities.
He charged leaders of these communities to give equal educational opportunities to those brilliant ones who are willing to go to school but do not have the resources adding that such gesture is a way of curbing crime in the society.
The Bishop, who is also in charge of Methodist Church Bori Diocese regretted that when in search of a leader it was difficult to find one from Ogoni as a result of gruesome murder of their elites by hoodlums.
Nnam emphasised that the burial of Late Dr Lucky Kina was not a beffiting burial, but a colossal loss to be wept over and urged all greedy leaders in the state and country at large to turn a new leaf, as positive attitudinal change was key to leaving in peace and harmony with fellow neighbours.
