Some of the candidates, who sat for the recently conducted 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), have voiced their discontents over alleged lapses in handling of the examination conducted by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

Haruna Musa, one of the candidates argued that he scored 19 in a paper he did not seat for, while recalling that at the time of writing the examination, the computer assigned to him suddenly went off. He also recalled that the April 11 exam, which was billed to start from 7: am did not commence until 9:am, due to inability to log on to the system. He added that he was writing Chemistry while others were busy with different papers when the systems went off and those affected by the development were asked to write their names and phone numbers in a sheet of paper with a promise that they may have a rescheduled examination. He lamented that he score 19 in Physics, a subject he did not write. An aggrieved Musa Haruna felt bad that his result was manipulated. Musa’s story was reported in a national daily few days ago.
Another candidate from Rivers State who craved anonymity narrated how she went for the exam and was told they needed her thumbprint before accessing the exam hall but to her surprise her information failed to display on the system, even though she registered at a center in Port Harcourt. She said that with repeated trials her thumbprint failed to register in the system
It would be recalled that JAMB conducted the 2019 UTME between April 11 and 18 in about 698 Computer-Based Test Centers, with 1.8 million candidates. But the results didn’t come out until May 11, 2019.
JAMB was accused of churning out results piecemeal following allegations of errors in the system which made it impossible to have a well coordinated results.
