Night Raid Claims Five In Ogoni Community
Natives of Bodo Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State are now living in fear following the alleged killing of five persons in a night raid by suspected cultists.
Though the immediate cause of the barbaric act is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected the incident may not be unconnected with battle for supremacy among cult groups in the area, notably Greenlanders/Deygbam coalition and Dewell.
It is not also certain if all those killed are cult members.
A source revealed that the carnage in the community by cultists is underreported because victims and their relations are afraid to open up for fear of their lives.
Names of some of the victims of the latest night attack were given as Baribefe Bornu, Tombari Thomas Vikpee, all from Bodo and Edward Bariziga, a native of B-Dere.
Though the Rivers State Police Command was yet to confirm the incident, the youth president of Bodo Community, Kpoobari Pata confirmed the attack.
He alleged the frequent attacks and cult activities were being sponsored by some prominent persons in the community for selfish interests.
The youth president also added that the community was not sincere about the issues on ground and urged security agencies to investigate all the leaders of the community to unravel those behind the unrest.
