NDDC: Group Backs Akwa’s Appointment As Sole Administrator
The appointment of Mr. Effiong Akwa as Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has received the backing of a non-governmental body, Patriotic Forum of Niger Delta (PAFOND).
In a communique issued at the end of an emergency meeting held in Port Harcourt, December 17, 2020, the group described the appointment of Akwa as well deserved.
They pledged to give the Sole Administrator full support to reposition the commission to achieve its purpose for the Niger Delta region.
In the communique which was jointly signed by the group’s National Chairman, Comrade Owo Udoh and National Secretary, Richard Monday, PAFOND said the appointment of Mr. Akwa is like putting a square peg on a square hole.
The Forum also appealed to Niger Deltans and stakeholders to drop personal interests and give the Administrator maximum support to reposition the commission for development of the region, adding that the region has remained backward despite trillions sunk into the commission.
“We will not support anybody or groups who want to frustrate federal government development plans for the region”, they warned.
