Women Tasked On Assertiveness

…As SWIF Celebrates Two Years of Existence

In a world presumably dominated by men, there is now need to break the glass ceilings, cultural norms especially those that limit the employment and economic opportunities for women.

The President and founder of Solution Women International Foundation (SWIF), Evang. Ebere Orikanu during the organization’s second anniversary celebration charged women to ensure that the narrative is changed.

According to her, women should be determined to make change in their lives and not allow people define them or put them down, stressing that a woman’s s best story is the one written by herself and must be allowed to ‘run’ her.

The founder of SWIF encouraged women to always make good decisions, be disciplined, know what they want and be ready to say no to what they do not like.

She disclosed that SWIF was established to cater for women by providing educational programmes skills acquisition in the rural areas with innovative and proactive programmes that support community based incentives.

She further informed that SWIF provides mental health resources and trauma informed care to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and women trafficking while building communities that support such women.

“SWIF simplifies the process of funding that allows for larger percentage of donations to go directly to the women and children whose lives we hope to impact.

I call on every one to support us in being a solution to the vulnerable and putting smiles in their faces”, she pleaded.

On her part, the chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Mrs Susan Serekara Nwikina, stressed the need for women to rise up and assert their rights.

She condemned all harmful, obnoxious practices against the women and girls and urged women to refuse to be relegated to the background.
