Lecturer, Female Student In Trouble Over Alleged Harassment, Exploitation
The committee set up by Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt to investigate case of alleged misconduct, harassment and exploitation of a female student, Blessing Audu by a lecturer, Zoe Tamunotonye Solomon quizzed the duo last week Friday, National Network has learnt.
We gathered that the lecturer was quizzed by the committee first, followed by the female student.
The committee which has one month to submit its report is expected to make recommendations to the school management based on its findings on the matter.
Recall the school management had in a statement on Friday 7th January 2022 signed by the institution’s Registrar Chris Esq suspended the male lecturer for three months for alleged harassment, exploitation and other acts prejudicial to the good name of the school and set up a committee to investigate and submit report in one month.
Mr Tamunotonye had in an interview with Journalists claimed the female student Blessing Audu defrauded him of 250,000 naira contrary to insinuation in some quarters that he effected the arrest of the female student because she turned down his marriage proposal.
The lecturer stated that the insinuation was a cheap blackmail by the female student to whip up public sentiment after defrauding him and stealing his property.
Mr. Tamunotonye stated that the family of the female student would have gone to thanksgiving if he asked their daughter’s hand in marriage considering the kind of person he is.
The lecturer however, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday had resolved the matter.
The female student, Blessing Audu in an interview with our correspondent insisted that she did not defraud the lecturer of any money neither did she steal his POS or any other property.
She disclosed that the lecturer started accusing her of theft and fraud, after she turned down his marriage proposal.
Blessing Audu appreciated CP Eboka for intervening in the matter.
It would be recalled that Blessing Lucky was arrested on Wednesday 29,December, 2021 and detained for two days at Sani Abacha Police Division but was released on 31st December, 2021 after the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday interviewed the female student and the lecturer and ordered her release.
