PH Collapsed Building: RSHA To Investigate Cause Of Incident
The Rivers State House of Assembly has said it would commence investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the collapse of a 7 storey building along Woji road in GRA, Port Harcourt.
Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule stated this when lawmakers visited the site of the incident.
He said ‘ the Rivers State House of Assembly would reconvene to carry proper investigation as to what happened here, and you can be assured that in the coming days we will sit and we will review the situation, adding that the House needed to properly investigate before running into conclusions.
Amaewhule described the collapse as unfortunate and an emergency situation which nobody planned for but expressed confidence on the fact that the Rivers State Government was on ground and that work was being done to rescue the trapped victims.
The Majority Leader, who was optimistic that more persons would be rescued, called on public spirited individuals to expedite actions in assisting the rescue operations.
On his part, Chairman, House Committee on Information and Training, Hon Sam Ogeh, sympathizing with the victims, lauded the speed and level of response embarked upon by Rivers State Government and other relevant agencies in rescuing the victims, assured that the House was going to reconvene earlier than adjourned so as to address the issue.
Other lawmakers who were present during the visit are, Hon Ahiakwo Christian, Hon Tekenari Granville, Hon Adonye Diri, Rt Hon Adams Dabotorudima, Hon Mathew Dike, Hon Opurum Nnanna and Hon Michael Chinda.
