Easter: ‘Why We Should Preach Jesus Resurrection’

Again, as the nation joined the rest of the world in celebrating Easter, (though low-key), the power of resurrection of the Lord Jesus came into focus with a call on Christians to seek more understanding of the import of the sacrifices that Jesus made on the Cross for mankind.

This formed the nucleus of the message preached on the pulpit at Rhema Chapel International Churches, Port Harcourt during the just concluded Easter Faith Convention on Sunday. The Minister-in-Charge of the church, Pastor Abiola Ajadi, noted that the impact of Jesus resurrection  was profound in the life of the church he birthed.

According to him, resurrection of Jesus Christ was the focal point of Apostle Paul’s teachings. He noted that in Acts 17:18, 17:32 the disciples of the Lord Jesus preached resurrection with passion because of their understanding of what the saivour did for mankind.

He stated that, whenever the disciples preached the resurrection of Jesus in the Bible days, power became evident. Pastor Ajadi charged the congregation to be committed to the knowledge of the Word of God, which according to him, “the understanding you have about anything determines what you speak”. He expressed confidence that the same spirit that quickened Jesus can do much more in the lives of believers today.

But, he lamented that debate over coronavirus disease and the 5G had taken over many other subjects, rather than spend time on the Word of God daily.

He said resurrection is not only about eternity as some believers thought as it affects everyone living also.

According to the M.I.C., the disciples of Jesus preached resurrection because they needed to nurture and sustain the hope of many and power was made available through their message on resurrection.

On the benefits of resurrection of Jesus to mankind, Pastor Ajadi explained that “It is ordained to turn our defeats into victory and captivity of man in to liberty”.

He observed that Christians should appreciate the season of Easter, especially given the account of the scriptures that on “the third day, because it is written, the spirit of God went into action to bring resurrection to pass”, he stated that this brought about hope for the resurrection of the dead and rapture for the living in Christ.

Meanwhile, the church authorities have expressed appreciation to the Rivers State government for relaxing the restriction order for church gathering to hold. They stated that as a law abiding ministry, the church has put every measure in place to ensure social distancing, even as they expressed the hope that with the prayers of the saints, the scourge of coronavirus pandemic will be over soon.

The Easter Sunday activities was segmented into four services, comprising 50 congregants in each service with the use of hand sanitizers before entry into the church auditorium.
