Stop Agitation For Governorship Seat Now, Hon. Torukwein Tells Kalabari People

Ahouse of Assembly hopeful for Akuku-Toru Constituency II, has pleaded with the people of Kalabari to wait for their turn to produce governor of Rivers State.

Hon. Torukwein made this known news hounds reporter over the weekend in Port Harcourt, saying it would be proper for the people of Kalabari to negotiate on how to take over power from the upland after Governor Nyesom Wike’s second term in office based on his good work.

According to him, the quest for the Kalabaris son to occupy the Brick House can only materialize when the Ikwerre agree to join forces with the people of Kalabari based on their voting strength, adding that, the desire of the Kalabari people to become governor wouldn’t also be feasible under the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a minority party in the State.

Hon. Torukwein made it clear that it is only PDP, as a party, that can produce a governor from the Kalabari extraction, based on their massive votes in the State, while urging the people of Kalabari to look beyond ethnic considerations in the interest of good governance and development and give their maximum support to Governor Nyesom Wike to complete his second term in office.

He believes that Governor Nyesom Wike has displayed statesmanship during his first term in office as a democratic leader and deserves another term to consolidate on the achievements he has recorded so far.

He said he has observed, with keen interest the increasing wave of support and endorsements of Governor Wike by various individuals, groups and ethnic nationalities. He expressed optimism that Wike’s impressive performance during his first tenure would propel him to victory come 2019, and therefore, enjoined the people of Kalabari to follow suit and not to be left behind.

Hon. Torukwein used the medium to also appeal to the people of his constituency to give him their mandate. While assuring the people that he would not betray their trust as their representative in the State Assembly, he promised to serve with the fear of God, and lead to them out of present state of despair and hopelessness.

He pointed out that he has the political will and capacity to move Akuku-Toru Constituency II forward because he has been tried, tested and proven in various leadership capacities, and that no other candidate vying for that seat was more competent than him.

He also disclosed that he has been empowering his people in his own little way from his purse before now, and hope to create empowerment opportunities especially for the youths, women and elders, adding that if given the mandate the vision of Governor Nyesom Wike for the people will be actualized.
