CAN Cautions Ministers Of God Over Prosperity Sermon
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has cautioned Ministers of God to use the pulpits to preach salvation, and focused on the cross of Jesus and avoid over reliance on prosperity messages.
Speaking at a one-day Pre-International Conference in Port Harcourt over the weekend organized by the Akwa-Ibom Gospel Ministers Network in Diaspora (AKGOMIND), the Rivers State Chapter Chairman of CAN, Most Special Apostle Stanley Dimkpa said it was improper for ministers of God to preach disunity, hate or create tension indirectly through their messages.
According to him, “We should use the pulpit to strengthen the individuals, individual churches and the society at large.”
Let us be mindful of the type of messages we preach. We should pray, love and encourage one another for our ultimate unity according to the biblical injunction,” he stated.
Dr. Dimkpa who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event reminded the audience that CAN was established in the pursuit of strengthening the unity in the body of Christ, adding that anyone or group who acknowledges or identifies him/herself with the CAN activities is indeed obeying and keeping the Lord’s injunction and shall be bountifully rewarded.
The man of God further charged the ministers to be mindful of their utterances or the type of messages they share on the social platforms as religious leaders in order not to endanger the relative peace being enjoyed in the state and nation.
The CAN Chairman, used the opportunity to assure the group of his Excos commitment and willingness to work with them and indeed all other religious body of Christ irrespective of the church, religious affiliations or ethnicity in order to strengthen the unity among the body of Christ.
He equally used the event to applaud the Federal Government’s decision to checkmate a reappraisal attack by Nigerians over the xenophobia attacks in South-Africa, and as well commended the state governors especially Gov Wike of Rivers State for protecting the South African investments in their respective states in the interest of peace and harmony.
Earlier, the international president/visioner of the body, His Grace, Archbishop Dr. David Okponoesip (JP) expressed gratitude at the presence of the CAN Chairman at a short notice, adding that the gesture shows the simplicity and commitment of the religious leader.
“It shows the CAN chairman as a humble and committed leader who is willing to strengthen and unify the body of Christ to achieve set goal,” he declared.
The Akwa Ibom religious leaders used the opportunity to assure Dr. Dimkpa of their unalloyed support to his administration to achieve set objectives to the glory of God.
