What Golden Rule Teaches – Clergyman

For man to live above self and in turn fulfil the law of God, he should be guided by the Golden Rule which God exemplifies in sending his beloved son, Jesus, to the world to die despite the inadequacies of mankind, says the Minister-in-charge, (M.I.C) Rhema Chapel International Churches, Port Harcourt, Pastor Abiola Ajadi.

The M.I.C made the Golden Rule the central focus of his homiletics during the April Thanksgiving service on Sunday.

According to the clergyman, “golden rule is based on the principles taught by Jesus in the book of Matthew 7:12,” which underscores the need to treat or do unto other just the way we expect others to do unto us. Pastor Ajado went further to say, “It is the summation of God’s entire way of life. God is concerned about others, so he sent his only begotten son.”

He informed that Jesus expected his followers to live by this principle.

Ahead of the thanksgiving proper, the preacher admonished worshippers to factor teachings of the golden rule into their daily living by avoiding to be unkind because someone is unkind to you. (“When God sent his son, we were not perfect.

Also, he said, “Regardless of how people behaved towards you, you have to treat people as you want them to treat you.”

Again, he emphasized that, “Don’t treat people the way they deserved to be treated when they have done wrong.” The Man of God, in this instance made reference to the biblical prodigal son, who despite his misdemeanors was received ceremoniously back home.

Pastor Ajado warned that, “people are the way they are because they don’t treat others they way they would like to be treated in life. Making reference to the book of Ephesians 6:8, he explained that man received good from his good deeds, whether as a believer or an unbeliever.

The M.I.C stated that the golden rule is largely about the law of sowing and reaping, using the book of Galatians 6:6-7 as a reference.

“This law says whatever you do is what you get back in turn, what you give to life, life gives back to you.

He likened the golden rule to the law of reciprocity – “as you give, God causes someone to give back to you, not necessarily the one you do good to. It is God who determines and raises another to do you good in turn.”

The Man of God equally use his sermon to disabuse minds from thinking that giving only brother on money. “Giving does not mean money alone. It can be energy, sowing compassion or helping others,” he said, adding that people should be merciful to others like God the father.
