Cookey-Gam Inaugurates 5-Man Mgt Committee For Opubo Hotels
In fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises to revamp the Opubo Hotels and Resort, the Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government, Rt. Hon Enyiada Cookey-Gam, on Wednesday inaugurated a five-man management committee to manage the hotel at the Executive Chamber of the Chairman’s office.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Council Boss gave a brief background talk of the hotel which is not pleasing to him and customers as a key factor that determined the need for the inauguration of a Committee to manage the hotel. He charged the committee members to do their best in revamping the hotel, which if properly done will add to the council’s internally generated revenue (IGR).
Members of the committee include: Senibo Stanley Wariso, Chairman; Senibo Curthbert Epelle, Secretary; Hon. Daniel A. S. Pepple, member; Mr. Rowland A.D Jaja, member and Princess May Jaja, member.
The committee has the following terms of reference:
To take over the management of the hotel pending the selection and hand-over to a selected bidder, carry out comprehensive audit of the properties of the Council in the hotel and match same with existing one, carry out integrity test of facilities in the hotel, advertise and invite tenders for management of the hotel, Evaluate and recommend qualified bidders for management of the hotel and turn in a comprehensive report to the executive chairman within two months from date.
Hon Cookey-Gam added that their wealth of experience and impeccable status in the community qualified them as the best candidates for this job at this particular time. “I expect nothing less than the best performance from you”.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Stanley Wariso, thanked the Executive Chairman for finding them worthy to be entrusted with the task. He, on behalf of the Committee promised they would do their best to achieve the terms of reference within the given time frame.
