Rivers NUJ Scribe, Wigodo Thanks Delegates, Colleagues
I’m Grateful! Dear respected and distinguished colleagues,
Since Wednesday when I was returned as the chief scribe of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, for the second term, I’m been thinking of how to express my gratitude to members of this great Union.
I lack words to really convey my appreciation to those of you who turned out in large numbers to cast their votes for me. I sincerely owe you a debt of gratitude for giving me another opportunity to serve our Union (NUJ) for another term. God bless you all.
Special appreciation goes to Pastor Jerry Needam and the permanent Secretary of Ministry of Sports, Sir Honour Sirawoo and members of the Consolidation Team, beginning from our able Campaign Director General, Alhaji Boye Salau, Deputy DG Anita Ogona, Stephen Ahmed Momoh, Elizabeth Amadi, Chiarman of Information Chapel Owupele Benebo, Joy Owhonda. Others includes, Members of Radio Nigeria Treasurer FM, Daar Communications AIT, Silver bird group, Surveillance, Independent Monitor, Beacon, TNN, Inside Eleme and others. Words alone are not enough to express my utmost gratitude to you all. Thank you for receiving the bullets on behalf of me and other candidates of the Consolidation Team. I’m most grateful.
To my big ‘ogas’ Pastor Jerry Needam Sir Honour Sirawoo,Sir Okafor and Celestine Ogolo who defied rain on Tuesday and also made the sacrifice of trooping out Wednesday, all in the name of casting their votes for me, I say thank you, Sirs.
I thank all my colleagues for finding me worthy of being voted for, again. Thanks for keeping faith with me. Trust is one thing I’ve been told can never be brought back once broken. I promise never to break the trust and confidence you have in me. I promise never to take your love for granted. I promise to represent you better in my second term.
And to those who cast their votes the other way, I bear no ill feelings towards you. No grudges at all, my dear colleagues. Your opposition to my candidacy made the exercise thick and interesting. That’s the beauty of democracy.
I, therefore, solicit supports from all of you to enable me consolidate on the modest achievements I recorded in my first term.
Once again, I thank you all for your love and support. God bless you all”.
