Police Hand Over Extorted Money By Officers To Victims

The Police last Friday handed over one hundred and fifty thousand (150,000) naira to Kingsley Dike ,the student who was allegedly extorted by four Police Officers attached to Puff Ader tactical unit penultimate Friday.

Kingsley Dike confirmed the development to our reporter.

The student told our reporter that his money was handed over to him after he testified in an ongoing orderly trial against the four Police Officers at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt.

The student also informed our reporter that his fellow student, Conquest Eno who was with him at the time of the incident also testified in the ongoing orderly room trial.

An inside source told our reporter that the orderly room trial will be able to determine if the accused police officers are culpable or not and if they are culpable, appropriate sanction in line with the police act will be melted out to them.

Recall that the Rivers State Police command last week arrested and detained four police officers attached to Puff Adder tactical police unit at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for allegedly extorting two hundred and four thousand (204,000) naira from Mr Dike and one other person.

Their arrest followed a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday shortly after members of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign led the student to the office of the Commissioner of Police, last Monday to lodge a formal complaint on the matter.
