…Paramount Ruler Charges Them To Lead By Example
It was a dream comes true on Thursday, 4th August, 2022 at the popular Okehi I Town Hall, when the people of Okehi Etche both home and abroad gathered in their numbers to elect their officers into various positions of leadership.
The election which was conducted by Mr. Sunday Onwunbuah Onwuechie – led caretaker committee had the following persons dully elected: Dr. Godspower Nwala – Chairman CDC, Umukpor, Mr. Jacob Odum (Secretary) Umukran Umuechijie, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nnunukwe (Treasurer) Umuochono, Mr. Ibe Okere (Financial Secretary) Umuezeawa. Others include; Mr. Nnodim ThankGod (CDC) PRO Umuola, while Mr. Patrick Nweke was elected as provost Umunwaro.
Similarly, those elected under youth body include: Chinedu Agumo (President), Onyekachi Nwankwo (Provost), Chuks Anokwuru (Vice President), Chigozie Anugbuo (Treasurer), Chigozie Mbuonye (Gen. Sec.), Confidence Onyeche (Provost) Umuezeawa, Chimezie Ukwuoma (Fin. Sec), and Price Solomon (D.O.S) both from Umuokloga/Umuehijie.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the election, the Ochimba I of Okehi, Eze Godwin Onwuka described the election as free and fair. He added that, he was impressed with the turn-out of people and the caliber of persons that emerged, stressing that they should be proactive and up and doing to actualize their dreams.
The (CDC) Chairman, Dr. Godspower Nwala thanked his people for electing him, promising to work with relevant authorities to restore the past glory of Okehi land. While frowning on the deplorable condition of Government Secondary School, Okehi, the first secondary school in Etche land, called on investors, Rivers State Government to come and assist the school, stressing that peace has returned in Okehi.
According to him, Okehi is the seat of Etche Local Government but has nothing to show for it.
Dignitaries at the occasion include: His Royal Highness Eze Godwin Onwuka, Paramount Ruler and Ochimba I of Okehi I; Chief Emmanuel Mbuonye (Ochimba of Onomato), Hon. Egbuchulem Ebereonwu (Fmr. Caretaker Chairman Etche LGA), Hon. Evang Godwin Ikeazu (Fmr. CSO) Etche Local Government Area, Chief Ikechi Okere, Chief Francis Ukachi, Chief Godwin Akagbno Nwala (Manubamanu), Chief Chibuile Nwafor, Chief Eberechi Nwankwo and host of others too numerous to mention including stakeholders and the Okehi elite.
