Police Recover Abandoned Nine-Year-Old Girl, Launch Manhunt For Suspect

Detectives from Ada George Police Division, Port Harcourt over the weekend recovered a nine year old girl abandoned by a suspected child trafficker, Miss Ebube twenty hours after she abducted the child, belonging to her neighbour.

A reliable source told our reporter that the suspected trafficker abandoned the nine-year- old girl in front of a church in Port Harcourt following intense pressure by the Police.

The mother of the child, Favour Amaechi confirmed the recovery of the child to our reporter.

According to Mrs Amechi, “A lady came yesterday by 6:30pm, she asked me to help her for my first daughter that she want her to go and assist her in the market at Mile 3 Diobu, UST.

“Then later today by 12-1pm she will bring the child back for me and the place she is staying that I know she direct me that she used to go and sleep since she came back from travel, I went there yesterday by 8pm because I was thinking of the way she carried the child ,I say let me go and check that place say she said she is going to sleep and confirm if she is there with my child, I went there the owner of the house told me she don’t know anybody like that ,that nobody like that that is coming to sleep in her house.

“So I was so worried that yesterday, I gave somebody her number to help me and call her, they called her she picked and told me that she is at Agip, I said Agip where but is not in Agip you told me you are taking my child to go and stay and go to market today

 ” I asked her which place in Agip let me come and carry my child or you bring her for me, she said no is late hour that sleep is disturbing her, that later today she will bring the child for me, I said no I am not okay with this child you carried, I want to come and pick my child. She refused and cut the call yesterday.

“Her name is Ebube, I know her at Ada George at 81 Ada George road where we stayed, I cooperate well with her.

My child name is Treasure, nine year old”

Meanwhile Miss Ebube with phone number 08130260063 when contacted by our reporter said “report to Police abeg you oo. She is not coming back”.

The incident was later reported to Rumupakani (Ada George) Police Division

SP Grace Iringe Koko, spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command when contacted, told us that she will get back to our reporter but was yet to do so as at press time.
