Rivers State Students Endorse Sim’s Candidacy

Students across all tertiary institutions in Rivers State have jointly declared their support and endorsed Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections in the state.

The students who made the declaration under the aegis of ‘One Rivers Students Coalition for SIM’, after a meeting with the governorship candidate on Sunday in Port Harcourt, also proposed a political partnership which according to them is geared towards ensuring that Sim Fubara emerges as the next governor of the state.

Speaking at the occasion, Leader of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Rivers State and Convener of the coalition, Comrade Levi Sam Okuru, unveiled plans on how to galvanize support for Sir. Sim Fubara.

He stated that this particular meeting with the governorship candidate is different because it was the students who sought for the meeting with him.

The Students Union Government (SUG) President of the University of Port Harcourt who doubles as the Chairman, Council of SUG Presidents in Rivers State, Comrade Gift Ubabuike, also seized the moment to extol the PDP guber candidate and reaffirmed their collective resolve to support him for continuity and for more progress in the State.

Responding, Sir. Siminialayi Fubara, who was pleased with the students’ display of seriousness and understanding of the dynamics in Rivers State, thanked them for their declaration of support and expressed great confidence in clinching the victory come 2023.

He welcomed their proposal but advised them to be focused with their studies, adding that the main purpose of being in school is to study and graduate with good grades.

He assured that the state will witness a smooth transition that will give room for continuity and improvement.
