The Rivers State Police command says it has launched a manhunt for the gunmen who shot one Miss Jeremiah Blessing, a 200 level the department of Management, University of Port Harcourt.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni in his reaction to the incident disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Mukan Joseph has directed tactical units of the Police command to go after the suspects with a view to arresting them in record time.
The female victim, Miss Jeremiah Blessing, a native of Akwa Ibom who was shot by a three man robbery gang at the front of a public toilet close to Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology, Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 13th January 2021 for resisting rape narrated her ordeal .
Miss Jeremiah in an interview with our reporter shortly after she was discharged from the hospital, disclosed that after they robbed her of her valuables, the gunmen started dragging her towards the toilet to rape her.
Miss Jeremiah stated that the gunmen shot her when she refused following them .
She explained that the school security and the President of Student Union Government of College of Health, Comrade Igwe ThankGod came to her aid and called in the Police from Sani Abacha Division that took her to the hospital.
Relatively, Port Harcourt residents have called on the Police to pay keen attention to the spot where the lady was shot to avoid a re-occurrence for the incident.
