ICA23 Port Harcourt Regional Hub Begins Thursday, May 25
The 73rd International Communication Association (ICA23) annual conference, Port Harcourt Regional Hub takes off this week Thursday, May 25, 2023 through Monday, May 29.
The five day event which holds at the Emerald Energy Institute Auditorium, University of Port Harcourt will convene concurrently with the ICA23 annual conference, holding in Toronto, Canada.
The event is both physical and virtual for participants from across the globe.
This is coming exactly one year after a similar Regional Hub (ICA22), was hosted in Nigeria by the University of Port Harcourt, being the only ICA Regional Hub convened in the West African Sub-region then.
The ICA23 is however, the first ICA Regional Hub in Nigeria since the creation and subsequent inauguration of ICA Nigeria Regional chapter in March this year, the first in Africa.
Lined up for Panel discussions include the following: Perceived Communication Effects and Impact in the 2023 Nigerian Presidential Election, to be anchored by Prof Charles Okigbo (North Dakota State University), Dr. Ubadire Agua (Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Judge Nwakpoke of Ebony State University, etc, for Day One (Thursday May 25).
Prof. Barigbon Nsereka of the Rivers State University, Associate Prof Mina Ogbanga of the same University, Dr. Progress Umoh of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt and Prof. Alo Liliweri (University of Nusa Cendana – Indonesia will be speaking on Communication and Technology: Progress and Challenges on the Second Day (Friday, May 26).
According to the ICA Nigeria Regional Chapter Chair, Ekaete George, all is set for another brainstorming session for the Regional Hub participants from across Nigeria and beyond who are already in the Rivers State Capital for the event.
