Khana Council Offers N2m Bounty For Arrest Of Cult Leader, Bright Nwinyodee (A.K.A Triple)
…Recovers Human Skulls, Arms, Ammunition From Another Gang Leader …Welcomes New DPO, CSP Olufemi Okalawon …Commences Building of Babbe Divisional Police Station, Luawii
In a move aimed at curbing rising criminal activities in Kaani Community, Khana Local Government Area, Chairman of the Council, Dr. Bariere Thomas has announced a reward of N2 million for the arrest of one Mr. Nwinyodee, popularly known as ‘Triple’.
Triple, a suspected notorious criminal with a long rap sheet, is believed to be responsible for a series of heinous crimes that have plagued the community for months. The reward therefore serves as a testament to the Council’s determination to restore peace and security to the area.
Dr. Thomas who made the announcement of the N2 million reward while taking the newly deployed Divisional Police Officer, CSP, Olufemi Okalawon, on a security and familiarization visit to the different wards in the LGA, said the bounty highlights the seriousness of the criminal activities perpetrated by Mr. Nwinyodee, and also underscores the determination of the Council to bring him to justice.
The Khana Council boss had embarked on the visit to Ward 3, 6, and 16 respectively with a view to getting first hand information of the security challenges in their areas, to enable all parties be on same page in tackling the situation, noting that the visit was part of efforts to strengthen community policing strategy in the war against cultism, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
“Kaani as a community has no reason to allow crime go on here and I will tell you why. Today, you all have eyes to see that the area called Bori is already choked and congested and young people who are coming up, are looking for lands to buy towards Kaani axis and so if you’re blessed to come from an area where strangers are trooping in their numbers to live, then you have every reason to support government to make Kaani peaceful”, he said.
The Council Chairman who described traditional rulers and youths as major stakeholders in combating activities of criminal elements in the area, queried the resurfacing of kidnapping by youths of the community, and vowed to deal decisively with anyone found culpable in any act capable of breaching the peace.
“All you need is to make the place peaceful and everything you need will come to you because the times are changing and will no longer be business as usual” he said:
Dr. Thomas while also addressing the people of Ward 16, charged them to join hands with the Council and security agencies to combat insecurity in their communities, reiterating his commitment to bringing perpetrators of crime to book.
The new DPO, CSP Olufemi Okalawon in his response thanked the Council boss and his team for their unalloyed support and collaboration with the Police and sister agencies in combating crime in the area.
He said: “I am so pleased to work with the Council Chairman as a person because when I met him I knew definitely we can work together because of the zeal and energy he has in ensuring that peace is actually maintained and sustained in Khana”.
CSP Okalawon further assured the people of the Command’s commitment to ending the community’s lingering and arising security challenges.
“Police cannot do anything policing effectively without the communities, because we cannot be everywhere at the same time, hence we need you because that synergy is very important”, he said.
HRH, Mene Barikpoa Godwin Apere, Menebua Kaani, on his part commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, for deploying the highly respected police officer to Khana LGA.
“It is expected that the deployment of CSP, Olufemi Okalawon, following his years of experience and support from residents will fast-track the end of this menace of insecurity that will lead to residents in all parts of the LGA sleep with their two eyes closed” he said.
The traditional ruler pledged to continue to support and cooperate with the government and security agencies to achieve the mandate of safeguarding the lives and property of all the citizens of Kaani while appealing to the DPO to set up an emergency response team that will attend to distress calls.
Meanwhile, Dr. Thomas Bariere has applauded men of the Nigeria Police Force Bori Division and their counterparts, Taabaa Division, Anti-Cultism Unit Bori and C4I Khana LGA for yet another successful operation.
The Khana Council boss disclosed that the security operatives have arrested and harvested a cache of arms and ammunitions from a notorious cult leader popularly known as ‘Ojukwu’.
According to the Council Boss: “On a tip off early hours of today we got intelligence that one of those that have been apprehended by name OJUKWU from Nyokuru Community, has some riffles and a human skull with which he uses to administer oath to his victims so as not to reveal his identity.
“It is worthy of note that, Men of the Bori Anti-Cuiltism, the Bori Police Division, Taabaa police division, C4I Khana went into action and this morning the outcome of that raid is what you see here.
“Our prayer as always, is that all those behind every criminal activities in the LGA are brought to book. We are confident that our security operatives will do what they have been doing to ensure that this local government is crime free.
“But importantly, if I may ask, what is the essence of governance, if there’s no peace and security? When you build schools who will attend those schools, when you build markets, who will do commercial activities there? “And so you will agree with me that anywhere security collapses, government has failed woefully”, he said, adding, “Our administration will not relent in our fight against insecurity in Khana because we swore an oath to protect the people’.
Items recovered from the crime war kingpin were, AK 47 riffles, Pump action, a Toyota corolla, two Motorcycles, several rounds of ammunitions, and a human skull.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Khana Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Thomas Bariere has commenced the building of Babbe Divisional Police Station in Luawii Community.
The foundation laying ceremony of the Police Station was performed over the weekend by the member Representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Dumnamene Robinson Dekor.
The Police Station when completed will serve the Babbe area of the Local Government to curb insecurity which has over the years been without a police station.
