FRSC Caution Drivers Against Reckless Driving
The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) in Rivers State has cautioned drivers especially commercial drivers not to gamble with lives of their passengers by refusing to adhere to safety rules.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Nyang Umoh in an interview with our correspondent at the sideline of an event over the weekend in Port Harcourt asserted that due to high rate of travelling activities on the road, there are tendencies that road accidents will be high due to attitudes of non-adherence to traffic rules by some drivers.
“We have designed our public enlightenment, public education and enforcement.
The message is speak up against dangerous driving. We understand that, if you have a vehicle carrying 18 passengers is only one driver.
The passengers have right to speak up, if the driver is driving dangerously.
“I call on drivers to be cautious, careful ,observe simple rules while using the road” Mr Umoh said.
The FRSC Sector Commander stated that over speeding, overloading of vehicle, intake of excessive alcohol by drivers are some of the main cause of road accidents.
Mr Umoh also disclosed that use of cell phone while driving usually led to distraction and can result to accident. He added that the Corps will make adequate deployments across highways in the state to ensure drivers comply to safety and traffic rules to mitigate incidents of accident during the yuletide period.
