There was pandemonium last Saturday as a male client simply identified as Collins aka ‘Tallest’ suspected to be member of a cult group attacked members of local vigilance group and plain clothe Police detectives who came to effect his arrest on alleged crimes of robbery and assault.
We learnt that the ‘Tallest’ suspected to be a member of cult group patronized a female commercial sex worker last Friday night for ‘day break’ deal in a brothel popularly known as ’49’ located at Ojoto street, near Ojoto/Azikiwe junction Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt and allegedly robbed the commercial sex worker of her money despite not paying for the service.
The source informed our reporter that the sex worker informed a member of local vigilance group around the area of the development and the security operative was beaten up when he confronted ‘Tallest’ last Saturday night.
An eyewitness account disclosed that the leadership of the local security outfit and two plain clothe officers said to be Police officers went to effect the arrest of ‘Tallest’ at the front of another brothel on Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu.
Our source revealed that upon arrest, the ‘Tallest’ echoed the slogan of his alleged cult group which attracted some members of the group to the scene and they started throwing bottles, sharp objects and stones to the direction the security operatives were holding the suspect which made the suspect (tallest) to escape as everywhere was in disarray.
Our correspondent who met the scene reported that the situation resulted in a pandemonium as passersby and business owners scampered to safety.
It took the intervention of Police Officers from Azikiwe Police division at Ilabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu to restore normalcy .
We also gathered that many passersby and shop owners were attacked and robbed by the rampaging cultists.
