Alleged Ritual Killing: Ifeanyi Knows Fate, April 30

Honourable Justice Adolphus Enebeli of the Port-Harcourt High Court has fixed April 30 for judgement in the murder trial of Ifeanyi Dike and two others.

Ifeanyi Dike, Ugochukwu Nwamiro and Sgt Johnbosco Okoroeze are facing trial for alleged murder of an eight-year-old girl.

First accused, Ifeanyi Dike, allegedly murdered the eight-year-old girl, Chikamso Victory Nmezuwuba, in 2017, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The first accused who allegedly removed body parts of the eight-year-old girl told police he was asked by second accused, Ugochukwu Nwamiro, to get body parts for money ritual.

Honourable Justice Enebeli announced date for the judgement after counsels made their closing arguments on 20 February.

The prosecuting counsel, Chidi Ekeh, said the court should judge the three accused as charged saying they had taken part in their various crimes.

The counsel for first accused, Lezina Amegua, while closing his argument said although his client admitted killing the girl, the court should consider his mental state saying he’s insane.

The counsel for the second accused said her client is innocent of the charge.

Counsel for the third accused, Bekwele Cheyakwa, told the court his client is not guilty saying he’s innocent of the charge against him.

Sgt Okoroeze is being tried for allegedly helping Dike to get free at State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port-Harcourt. He was later dismissed from Nigeria Police Force.

Dike was re-arrested in Jos, Plateau State after Rivers State Police Command had put one million naira bounty on his head.

The Rivers State government took over the prosecution of the case from the Rivers State Police Command.

Father of the eight-year-old girl, Mr Ernest Nmezuwuba, told newsmen he’s demanding justice for the death of his daughter.

Similarly, mother of the eight-year-old girl, Mrs Lucy Nmezuwuba, told newsmen she wants justice to be done in the case.

She said her daughter was a “genius” and wanted to become an international ballet dancer.
