NURTW Seeks Support From Ahoada East Council Boss

The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ahoada East LGA branch, Hon. Evans Ochoma has appealed to the Chairman of Ahoada Local Government Area, Hon Barr Ben Eke to come to their aid over the dilapidated state of the Ahoada Motor Park.

Ochoma who made the appeal recently while speaking to journalists in his office in Ahoada, said as the Council boss gets ready to resume work for a second term, it would be expedient to give the motor park a facelift.

His appeal: “We the members of the Ahoada branch of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) want to appeal to him and his EXCO to renovate the maintain the Ahoada East Motor Park.  The council should also provide security at the Park”.

Hon. Ochomo explained that his predecessors also built toilets at the Park, that since he come on board as the Executive Chairman of the Council, a lot has been achieved.

“When I came on board last year, I introduced loan scheme of Fifty Thousand naira (N50,000) each to our members.  We also employed a sweeper and a cleaner to keep the Motor Park clean”, he added.

The NURTW, Ahoada East branch boss expressed displeasure over the activities of touts who disrupted the business of NURTW members last December.  “On the 31st of December, 2020 some youths from Ahoada had problems with commercial drivers who are out members.  And about 4 drivers were injured but the Ahoada East Council of Chiefs looked into the matter.  However, the drivers are yet to be compensated for their losses or get justice.

He commended the State Chairman of NURTW, Comrade Monday Eleazar for his good leadership in the state, particularly at the grassroots.

Hon. Ochoma also appealed to all members of the union to always work as a team and support one another.
