Kalabari Chief Lauds Abonnema Monarch On Covid-19, Tasks Others

A prominent Kalabari Chief and Paramount Ruler of Kieni Group of Houses and Communities in Asari Toru Local Government Area, (ASALGA), Alabo Engr. Inye Cotton Charlie Kieni Amachree, has lauded the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, His Majesty, King Barr. Disreal Gbobo Bob-Manuel, Owukori IX and other well-meaning sons and daughters of Kalabari land on the various measures they have taken, including the distribution of palliatives, to reduce the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic in the area.

Alabo Engr. Inye Kieni Amachree, in a chat with journalists, acknowledged that “if not for the thoughtful and strategic intervention of the likes of the Abonnema Monarch and the three council chairmen of Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru and Degema LGAs, the impact of the measures executed to contain COVID-19 would have been more devastating on the indigenes and residents of the Kalabari area, noting that “the times are really challenging so I urge my people and all those who do their businesses in the entire Kalabari Kingdom to strictly observe and obey the guidelines established on COVID-19, particularly the aspects on personal hygiene to ensure that we all come out of this saga alive and well”.

He also had special words of appreciation for the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon. Dr. Tammy W. Danagogo, who is also the Head of the committee in-charge of the purchase of all agricultural and fish products for the Rivers State COVID-19 Palliative Programme, saying “Dr. Danagogo has shown capacity as a public administrator of high standing, thus the confidence bestowed on him by the hard-working Governor Nyesom Wike”.

While also commending health professionals from the Kalabari ethnic nationality for their effective services to the state and country, the Paramount Head/Chief of Kieni Polo/Compound in Buguma also expressed satisfaction with the service profiles of Chief Charles P. D. Amachree (Chairman, Buguma & Kalabari Council of Chiefs), Chief Albert K. Horsfall, Engr. Tein Jackrich (Frontline Philanthropist and Founder of Belemaoil Producing Ltd), Mr. Mpaka LongJohn (a Community Development Crusader and CEO, MU Marine Oil & Gas Ltd), Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Engr. Austin Bob-Manuel, Chief Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari, Prof. Nimi D. Briggs, Alabo Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich (Founder and Leader of Kengema Unity Forum) and Hon.
