Hon Kalu Assures Constituents Of Diligent Service, Empowerment

In line with his avowed determination to offer the good people of Arochukwu Constituency qualitative representation in the Abia State House of Assembly come next year 2019, the All Progressives Congress flag bearer Hon. Anthony Nwankwo Kalu unveiled his profile and legislative agenda tagged “I and my agenda” over the weekend.

Address a press conference that preceded the kick off of his electioneering campaign, at the Local Government Council campaign office, Arochukwu, Hon. Anthony N. Kalu who used the occasion to thank party leaders and members for finding him worthy to be the party’s flag bearer, praised his fellow contestants for demonstrating rare sense of party loyalty and pledged to work collectively with all members of the party to secure victory in the next year’s general election.

Hon. Kalu presented a document that highlighted eloquently his clear understanding of the legislative functions in a democratic dispensation as clearly spelt out in the 199 constitution (as amended) and eight points legislative agenda he would pursue for the benefit of his constituent if elected into office.

The agenda covered Security and Safety; Access and Motorable road, Economy, Women and Youth Empowerment; Health, Education, Tourism and Hospitality; Respect and welfare of Traditional Institutions and Establishment of a mandatory Quarterly Town Hall meeting.

Details of the agenda and strategies to realize them were contained in a pamphlet that was made available during the flagging-off of the campaign.  

Meanwhile, the political activities were proceeded by a Church Service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Abuma Ututu in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Livinus Okamgba advised politicians to always play by the rule and ensure that the peoples welfare comes first in their agenda. “Avoid electoral violence, thuggery and electoral manipulation”, but imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.  

He also used the opportunity to urge the electoral umpire to endeavour to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the interest of the country.

The clergy made it known that when one works with God or follow the dictates of God in all he/she does, victory is assured, adding that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice.
