Worried by effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the country and it’s citizenry, member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo, has enjoined Christians to take advantage of the period of Easter to pray for God’s mercy and favour.
In his special Easter message he equally asked Christians to use the period to devote time and reflect on the roles of Jesus Christ in their lives and stressed on the need to continuously meditate on the central message and the purpose of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection which according to him ultimately led to the liberation of mankind from sin.
He reiterated some of the undying and exemplary virtues of Jesus Christ to include, sacrifice for the common good, living harmoniously, and pursuing common objectives of love, happiness and prosperity.
“Easter is a period when we Christians devote our time to reflect on the role of Jesus Christ in our lives and resolve to walk the path of moral regeneration. This period of Grace is even more philosophical in view of the fact that it was preceded by the Lenten season which, itself is a holy period for we Christians.
“At this propitious time, that we celebrate the death, resurrection and ascension into heaven of our Lord Jesus Christ, which ultimately liberated mankind from sins, I enjoin us all to continuously meditate on the central message and the purpose of our Lord’s sacrifices by ruminating on the essence of life and the responsibility to look out for each other and be our brother’s keepers.
” This particular Holy and blessed period of Easter should be viewed and taken as an avenue for sober reflection for the way and manner we are restricted to celebrating it owing to the Covid-19 pandemic that is ravaging the world. It is then time for us all to join hands together and pray for God’s positive intervention. Let us also use this period to remember those who have lost their lives and pray for the repose of their souls.
“I therefore urge us to take advantage of this solemn period to appeal for unconditional support and prayers for our leaders at various levels of government as they embark on the onerous task of nation building at this trying times.
” It is my fervent wish and prayer that this auspicious period of the death and resurrection of our Lord will usher in a new dawn of renewed hope, growth, development, peaceful and prosperous society, as well as an end to the Covid-19 pandemic that has ravaged the world and its economy ” a part of the statement reads.
