Youth leader and social crusader, Mr. Tamunoboma Kelsy Braide has said that the demise of his mother, late Mrs. Clarice Dabobubeleye Kelsy Braide has inflicted pain in him which could only be healed by the space of time.
Speaking to National Network at the weekend in Port Harcourt, Boma Braide, as he is fondly called, noted that though death remains an unsolicited appointment which every mortal would have to keep with the Creator, his mother’s death is very painful as, according to him, she died when he needed her the most.
“You know there’s a common saying that a man would always remain a boy when mom is around. In my own case, mom was a colossus. She stood like a protective tree and I’m yet to come to terms with the reality that she is gone. But I take solace with the fact that she not only had us, but lived a worthy life, and died gloriously in the Lord”, he said.
The Enitona High School, Port Harcourt Old boy, while extolling the sterling qualities embedded in his late mother, said she also exemplified boldness, courage and truthfulness during her lovely life time, adding that these traits she generously passed on to him and his siblings.
“These are virtues she would be remembered for. She was a humanist and made home everyone’s”, he declared.
Meanwhile, Mr. Braide who is the Chief Mourner has announced that the late Mrs. Clarice Dabobubeleye Kelsy Braide (nee Dapper) would be laid to rest on Saturday, October 2, 2021.
A statement jointly signed by Chief Chadlin Dapper, Chief Elias Davies, Mr. Golden C. Dapper, Engr. Tamunonimim Kelsy Braide and Mr. Tamunoboma Kelsy Braide, said her interment would be preceded by a Service of Songs on Thursday, September 30, 2021at All Saints CACN Cathedral, 63 Echue Street, Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt while the Funeral Service would hold at St. Paul’s (St. Garrick Braide) Cathedral, Bakana by 11.00 am, October 2, 2021.
Born on October 5, 1945, the late Mrs. Clarice Dabobubeleye Kelsy Braide died on June 25, 2021. Family sources say while alive, she bore a pet name ‘Baby’.
An acclaimed educationist, Mrs. Clarice Dabobubeleye Kelsy Braide attended the Christ Army School and obtained her Standard Six (First School Leaving Certificate) in 1961. In 1972, she got employed with the Rivers State Ministry of Education as a primary school teacher and was posted to Sacred Heart State School 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt where she taught until 1977 before proceeding to the then Teachers Training College (TTC) Rumuokwuta where she obtained her Teachers Grade 2 Certificate in 1982.
Upon completion, Clarice was posted to St. Thomas State School Diobu, Port Harcourt where she served until 1990 to run a (Sandwich) program in Physical Education and English Language at Ondo State College of Education. She returned to the Ondo State College of Education in 1994 and graduated with a Bachelor of Education.
Clarice was then posted to Model Primary School, Nkpolu Oroworukwo, and was promoted to the position of P.M.G.I on Grade Level 14 on 1st of July, 2008, a position she held until her retirement on 1st November, 2010. Like many others, Clarice who was a sprinter in her teens, was still able to achieve this after having all herchildren between 1964 – 1980.
