Ogoni Community Monarch Preaches Peace To Followers
The Paramount Ruler of Kono Boue Community and Bua Boue Kingdom in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH Mene (Dr) Amb. Taalor N. Tornwee has continued to preach peace to his followers inspite of recent skirmishes in the communities which he noted were sponsored by their common enemies.
In a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt over the weekend, the King said the Peace and Reconciliation Committee he set up for the kingdom to look for lasting peace is still in force. He recalled how the Stakeholders of the area which included the Khana Council chairman, Dr Thomas Beriere, himself, the CDC chairmen the youth bodies and security operatives toured the communities including Kono Boue, Uegwere Boue, Kereken Boue, Norkwirin Boue and Gbam Boue communities where they jointly observed general environmental clean up of the area.
The council chairman he said, made some tangible promises of establishing concrete structure to sustain the efforts. The chairman he said also established football competition among the youths of the communities for the development of ties, bond and friendship amongst them.
The monarch equally disclosed how he himself has withdrawn the suit he had instituted in court against some youths of the community who burnt his palace years back to facilitate the peace process.
The Royal Father used the opportunity to congratulate the Khana Council chairman, Hon (Dr) Beriere for the achievements recorded on his 100 days in office and as well condemned in strong terms the sponsored demonstration against his administration recently. The monarch made it clear that peace is panacea to development, advising that whatever the government has provided them should jealously be protected while they keep on asking for more and not to destroy the ones they already have or to kill each other for nothing sake.
