PDP Ex-Councillors Accuse Buhari Of Witch-Hunting Fayose

The National PDP ex-Councilors Forum has condemned in its entirety the continued detention of the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), calling on President Buhari to stop using the anti-graft agency to fight opposition in the name of fighting corruption.

Rising from its emergency meeting in Abuja on Friday, the forum in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sunday Ojosu lampooned President Muhammadu Buhari for witch-hunting members of the opposition with anti-graft agency instead of fighting corruption genuinely.

“Fighting corruption should be a priority of any government, but when such is being directed to gag members of the opposition, then all is not well in the country.

“In a sane society, anti-graft agency is expected to make its findings thoroughly before any arrest.

“It is crystal clear that EFCC has no evidence against Dr. Fayose but hell-bent on harassing and threatening him because of his roles in the opposition since 2015,” the forum said.

The PDP ex-councilors said Nigerians were aware of some APC chieftains, ranging from the Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Goodwill Akpabio, Timipre Sylva, Sen. Bola Tinubu, Babachar Lawal, Governor Kayode Fayemi and others who have been accused of corruption but are still walking about without incarceration not to talk of thorough investigation.

Speaking further, the forum advised EFCC to charge Fayose to a competent court of jurisdiction without delay.

“It is over 72 hours that Fayose has been locked up without any evidence. It is better to release him unconditionally or charge him to court,” they said.
