Attempted Rape Suspect Begs Family Of Victim To Evade Justice

A man simply identified as Chiemeka (who is in his early thirties) who attempted to rape a 13-year-old girl (name withheld) at Eneka, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, has pleaded for forgiveness in what seems to be an attempt to evade justice.

Our source and a cousin to the victim simply identified as Kingsley told our reporter that family members of the suspect and other individuals have been pleading with them to forgive the suspect.

Kingsley, who is a friend to the suspect, however, did not state if his family has agreed to forgive the suspect or not.

Narrating the incident, to our reporter, the 13-year-old girl explained that Chimeka who is her cousin’s friend, came to their house while her brother Kingsley was away, to beg for raw garri.

But unknown to her that the suspect had a sinister motive, she alleged that he started touching her breasts as she came out from the bathroom and pushed her to the bed. She had to raise alarm which made the suspect to run away.

Kingsley said when he heard what transpired between his sister (cousin) and his friend, he approached his friend, and sought to confirm the incident only for Chiemeka  to engage him in a fight.

He said he was surprised when Police came hours later from Eneka Divisional Police headquarters to arrest and detained him for two days. .

Reacting to the incident, the Legal Adviser of Civil Rights Council, River State Chapter, Mercy Christopher Esq. who brought the issue to the attention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), said the DPO immediately ordered for the release of the victim’s cousin and directed the arrest of the suspect, Chiemeka.

The case, according to the Legal Adviser, was re-assigned to a female Police officer.
