Agitation For Riverine Governor Should Wait Till 2023 – Hon. Ogan

Hon Wisdom Ogan, a former CTC member of Okrika Local Government Council in an interview with newsmen over the weekend in Port Harcourt said the agitation for a governor from the riverine extraction is premature, and it would only be ripe in 2023 after the completion of Governor Wike’s second term in office.

According to him, “Governor Nyesom Wike has performed well and one good turn, they say, deserves another. It is only proper to encourage him to complete his tenure, thereafter another section of the State will be encouraged to produce the governor”.

Hon. Ogan, who is the National Secretary of former Councillors, said those who are agitating for a riverine governor are not being sincere with their demands at this point in time.

The grassroots politician made it clear that Governor Wike has shown enough capacity to govern the State and has indeed extended development to all nooks and crannies of the State.

Ogan, who was the leader of Okrika Legislative Assembly, stated that what the governor needs now is every encouragement to consolidate on his achievements.

“Both the upland and riverine areas of the State have benefitted immensely from the Wike administration and at the end of his tenure, stakeholders will gather and consider the next zone to produce the successor, as no one zone can do it alone,” he said.

On the PDP National Convention to be hosted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Capital, Ogan said it is a welcome development, as it would boost the economy of the State and as well, afford the visitors ample opportunity not only to see the Wike’s developmental projects but to feel the security situation of the State and prove the opposition wrong.

On why governor Wike was nominated again for second term, Ogan said there was no reason for comparison. “Gov Wike has impacted in our lives and we shall vote him overwhelmingly any day to reciprocate our love and trust for him.

I am from Okrika, one of the riverine communities, but we are totally for Wike like most riverine citizens,” he said.

He made it clear that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is united and poised to rescue the country from the non-performing APC administration.
