NUJ EXTENDS SHUTDOWN OF PRESS CENTRE FOR ANOTHER ONE WEEK

The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has extended the shutdown of its Press Centre at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt for  additional one week.

This is as a result of the continued ban on major markets and public places in the state.

It is also in compliance with the directive of NUJ National Secretariat putting all activities of the Council on hold for additional one week.

In a statement jointly signed by Stanley Job Stanley and Ike Wigodo, Chairman and Secretary respectively, noted that the continued shutdown is in compliance with the directive of the Rivers State Government and National Secretariat of the Union, which directed all state councils to stop congresses and other large gatherings in line with precautionary measures put in place by various Governments against the spread of the Coronavirus.

The Union urges Journalists in the State to strictly adhere to laid down preventive measures and follow expert advice on Covid-19 prevention.
