Rivers CP Meets With Stakeholders

Rivers State Police boss in his unrelenting bid to ensure maximum security in the state, held stakeholders meeting with Local Government Chairmen from Emohua, Omuma, Etche, Ikwerre, Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt LGAs, Traditional rulers, Youth leaders, Community Development Committee (CDC) last Thursday (June 8,2023).

CP Emeka urged the Traditional rulers to identify and give Police useful information about criminal elements in their domain as crime can only  be effectively tackled by collaboration between the community and the Police in terms of information sharing.

CP Emeka said such information given to the Police must be devoid of sentiment, bias and witch-hunt.

CP Emeka said “every information you give to Police must be processed. Dont give information based on bias. Dont give Police information that will lead to ridicule or attack on the Police. Process your information before passing it on to the Police. Caution should be adhere to, when giving information.

“Intelligence Policing is the core value of my administration .Those people who commit crime are not spirits. Their are people who saw them committing the crime. When you see strange faces in your community, you have to monitor them. All intelligence given, will be treated with confidentiality.

“The command depends on the stakeholders to enable Police serve the public better..If there are things happening in your community, you must be able to offer guidance, information. If you are not against criminals you are for criminals.

“Traditional rulers endeavour to monitor strangers and people living suspicious life in your Community. That they brought you brown envelope and drink does make you to turn blind to their activities.

“Community are not to use it as excuse to chase non indigenes .That does not mean that if You don’t like somebody you accuse him or her of crime. Community and Police should see themselves as partners in fighting crime”.
