Family Protests Alleged Killing Of Son By Vigilante In EMOLGA
The family of one Justice Ogbuehi protested last Monday over his alleged killing by operatives of EMOLVIS, local vigilante group.
The protest was led by the deceased elder brother, Augustine Ogbuehi .The deceased elder brother said ELMOVIS personnel just drove into their community last Monday and shot Mr Justice when he was assisting his mother in processing garri. Mr Ogbuehi called for justice for his younger brother.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Emohua LGA Dr Chidi Lylod in an interview, said he had asked the Police,JTF in the LGA to investigate how members of the EMOLVIS group who are not constitutionally empowered to bear arms shot Justice Ogbuehi.
Dr Lylod said the Vigilante members are only meant to share intelligence and synergize with other security agencies in crime fighting and any of the EMOLVIS personnel found culpable will be dealt with in accordance to the law.
The LGA Chairman further disclosed that it was alleged that the suspect who was hit by a stray bullet is said to be a member of late Nwodi Onuigwe gang while the family maintained he was innocent.
Recall that the Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi in a stakeholders meeting warned Vigilante groups in the state to refrain from human rights abuses ranging from Killing, illegal detention, collection of ‘bail’ money etc.
