Police Arrest Alleged Killer Of Military Personnel In Rivers, Recover AK 47 Riffle
The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested Nyeche Ajuru, a leader of disbanded OSPAC in Ndele community, Emohua Local Government Area who was alleged to have killed two soldiers and seized two riffles from men of Nigerian soldiers two months ago at Ndele community, Emohua LGA of Rivers State.
Briefing Journalists at Moscow Road Police Headqurters, Port Harcourt, CP Emeka Nwonyi stated that Nyeche Ajuru was arrested along Aluu -UDS Road in a Toyota Corolla car by operatives of anti-cultism last week Thursday.
CP Nwonyi stated that an AK 47 Riffle, two walkie talkies, Police Special Constabulary ID, assorted charms were recovered from Ajuru and the occupants of the vehicle. The Rivers Police boss said the suspect confessed to have engaged and killed two soldiers in a shoot out in Ndele.
Meanwhile, Mr Ajuru in an interview with journalists denied killing any soldier. He said the AK 47 riffle was recovered from suspected cultists who killed two of his brothers and two other persons recently at Ndele community.
Mr Ajuru said the only mistake he made was not to have handed over the weapon to the Police.
Also one ThankGod Aruka was arrested last week Thursday in connection with the kidnap of Justice Azunda, protocol officer to Emeka Woke, former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House .
He said the suspect led the Police operatives to their hideout where the corpse of the kidnapped victim who was killed and buried in a shallow grave at Emohua was exhumed. CP Nwonyi disclosed that two ATM cards, AK 47 riffle were recovered from the scene
Meanwhile, the Police also arrested members of a notorious fraudster syndicate based on complaint from some victims .
CP Nwonyi said members of the syndicate defrauded a total of one million, six hundred and fifty thousand naira from one Chima Ukaegbu.
CP Nwonyi stated that a total of 60 victims were defrauded by the notorious syndicate under the guise of recruiting and training for non existent overseas jobs including preparation of Visas.
Meanwhile, the Police have rescued one David Abaraka who was kidnapped last week.
CP Nwonyi disclosed that when the command received information on kidnap of Abaraka David, operatives mobilized to Okuegbe community in Ahoada West LGA where a ‘Ford Hilux’ was recovered also.
CP Nwonyi explained that ,some criminals were also vandalizing high tension cable at Koroma in Tai LGA last week Saturday.
He revealed that Koroma Police Division recovered the vandalized cables which were already loaded in a truck while the suspects fled on sighting the Police.
Last week Monday, operatives of the command also arrested one Prince Dugum and and recovered a Toyota Sienna, property belonging to one Ndubuisi Amadi.
In the same vein, operatives of the command and OSPAC last week Thursday, raided a black spot within the area in Obio/Akpor. items recovered include substance suspected to be weeds, and other hard drugs.
Also last week Saturday, operatives of the command while on patrol along Oroigwe Road, at Elimgbu intercepted one Kingsley and recovered a brown pistol.
