Police Raid Cult Camps In Rivers, Kill One
The Rivers State Police Command says it successfully raided the camp of cultists at Ahoada East Local Government Area last week Thursday and killed one member of the group during exchange of gunfire.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi in a press briefing at the Police headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt said the leader or the notorious cults group narrowly escaped .
According to the CP, one AK 47 riffle, five magazines loaded with 51 live ammunition, GPMG live ammunition, assorted charms were recovered from the camp while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
CP Nwonyi also disclosed that operatives of C41 Intelligence Unit of the command in another case of kidnapping and murder, arrested a suspect that ran to Ogun state after participating in killing of late justice Azundah, Protocol officer to Emeka Woke, ex-Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government house.
The Police boss said the suspect confessed to have collected N2million before the victim was murdered.
He further stated that on 20th July, members of the same Kidnap gang engaged the Police in a battle and one Uchendu Azundah was fatally wounded, one pump action gun, 22 live ammunition were recovered from the scene, the CP added.
