A Police Officer, attached to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 43 Squadron Gombe State arrested for killing one Mr Olafuro Peterside at a popular bar along Elekehia area in Port Harcourt last week Thursday has been transferred to homicide section in the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID), Port Harcourt.
Earlier, the Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko said she was told by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the jurisdiction that the deceased was with his wife and three children when the Police Officer started shooting on air in response to an alarm raised by some persons that there were suspected armed robbers operating in the area.
SP Koko stated that the bullet from the gun of the officer hit Mr Peterside who was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead.
The police image maker added that the Police officer has been arrested while investigation is ongoing.
