Police Intensify Search For Killers Of DPO

The Rivers State Police Command has intensified search for members of  the suspected cult gang led by aka 2Baba who allegedly killed SP Bako Angbashim last week Friday at Odeimude community in Ahoada East Local Government Area even as six suspects were arrested last Sunday in connection to the killing.

The Command in a statement last Sunday by SP Grace Iringe Koko, Public Relations Officer said the  Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, CP Nwonyi Emeka along with his management team and tactical units, conducted an operation last September at about 6am  in Odeimude Community, Ahaoda East LGA, Rivers State with the objective to recover the deceased DPO’s body and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the community.

The Police disclosed that during the operation, six suspects were apprehended within the community. Among the items seized were a locally crafted pistol and various charms.

SP Koko explained that the suspects and the confiscated items are currently under police custody and are undergoing interrogation at the State CID, Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile, a new Divisional Police Officer, SP Zuokumor Richard, has been assigned to the Ahoada Police Division.

Our correspondent reports that the DPO was accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams in a bid to fortify the Police Division against any attack.

The statement disclosed that the new DPO is  tasked with a thorough search of the area, apprehension of the culprits responsible for the DPO’s demise, recovery of the body, and location of any operational weapons used.
