Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect, Street Light Vandals In Rivers

The Rivers State Police command says it has arrested an armed robbery suspect and street light vandals in Port Harcourt.

SP Grace Iringe Koko, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command in a statement said the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command on 6th May,2023 while on routine stop and search along the Polo Club by GRA, Port Harcourt, accosted a Mazda 323 with Reg. No. SKP 990 PM driven by one Mr Covenant Okon aged 26years suspected to be an armed robber.

SP Koko disclosed that upon search, one revolver pistol with one live ammunition was recovered from him.

SP Koko added that the suspect and exhibits are in police custody while investigation is in progress with a view to apprehending other members of his group.

In another development, the State Police Command has also arrested three street light vandals.

SP Grace Iringe Koko said acting on information provided by Community leaders in Borokiri, operatives from Borokiri Division arrested three young men, namely: Belema Aggo, Michael Edet and George Itarikabo in the act of vandalizing street lights provided for the community by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The Police Image maker said suspects and exhibits, which include eight solar panels, eight heavy duty batteries and two street lights, recovered are in Police custody, while investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang as well as receivers of previously stolen items.
