Late Ma Agnes Ashikodi Ugbechi Chukwudi, the 94 year old mother of Mr. Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary to governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state was over the weekend committed to mother earth at her husband’s compound, Umueze Quarters in Isheagu town, Aniocha local government Area of Delta state amid Pomp and pageantry.
The dusty Niger Delta community came alive as dignitaries from different parts of the country converged there to pay their last respect to the fallen heroine.
Delivering the sermon at the funeral service conducted by the Church of God Mission, Pastor Micheal Nolisa stressed the importance of one living a life worthy of emulation as every mortal will be remembered by the worthy legacies left behind. “Life is not about the duration but the donation made”, emphasizing that according to the Holy book “it is appointed unto man once to die and afterwards comes the judgement of God”.
The man of God added that everyone’s action will be accounted for at the last day and made it clear that everyone’s action determines his/her destination hereafter, hell or heaven.
Mr. Nelson Chukwudi read the only lesson of the day taken from 1st Thessalonians 4:13 -18 while his brother, Sylvester Chukwudi read the tributes.
In the biography of the late matriarch of the Ugbechi and Nwokolo families, she was said to be a loving, caring and industrious community woman leader who impacted heavily on the society during her life time.
“Ma Agnes was a woman of substance, integrity and unwavering commitment to truth, hardwork and transparency”; they said. The late Matriarch left to mourn her four children, five step children, nineteen grand children and twelve great grand children
