Police Officers Serving In Rivers Are Lucky – IGP
Police officers serving in Rivers State are the luckiest, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has declared.
IGP Baba made the assertion during the Commissioning of Rumupeirikom Police Tactical Operations Centre in Port Harcourt last week Friday which was built by the Rivers State Government.
IGP Baba said the Rivers Command is very lucky to have the necessary tools and enabling environment provided by the state Government for effective and modern policing .
He said E-Policing is a key aspect of his policy aside normal policies like stop and search, raids of criminal hideouts, robust patrol.IGP Baba while appreciating the Rivers State Government for the gesture urged other state Government to take a clue from Rivers State.
The Police helmsman stated that with the Commissioning of the facility, the Police can sit down in the facility to monitor many parts of the state without moving round.
The IGP announced the provision of one Armoured Personnel Carrier, two gun trucks, equipment and tools as the contribution of Force headquarters to the facility.
Earlier, former Governor, Nyesom Wike urged the New Commissioner Of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka to ensure adequate security for the State.
The immediate past Commissioner of Police, in Rivers State, CP Effiong Okon disclosed that three tactical units (Anti-Cultism, Anti-Kidnapping and C4i) out of the thirteen tactical units in the state would be in charge of the facility.
