Police Destroy Camp Of Notorious Cultists In Rivers
....Arrest Five Suspects, Recover AK 47 Riffles, GPMG,FMC,AK 47 Ammunitions
The Rivers State Police Command says it has destroyed the camp of a notorious cultist Princewill Orlu in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Briefing Journalists at the Command Headquarters on Monday 17th, July, 2023, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka Nwonyi said operatives of the Hunter Unit of the Command stormed the camp of the cultists and arrested five suspects .
The CP listed some of the arrested suspects as Orlu Gabriel, ThankGod Wori, while the leader of the gang, Princewill Orlu escaped.
CP Nwonyi stated that two AK 47 riffles, 142 AK 47 riffles ammunition, 24 FMC ammunition, 20 GPMG ammunition,4 bullet proof vest and 36 knee guards were recovered.
The Rivers Police Boss revealed that on 14th July, 2023 acting on credible intelligence that there were cult activities along Rumukrushi pipeline, operatives of the Police Command stormed the area, on sighting the Police, the hoodlums took to their heel. one locally made pistol, 2 cartridges were recovered.
He disclosed that on Friday 14th July about 12am, Hawk Police unit got intelligence that hoodlums were carrying out operation, one Victor Monday who specializes in car snatching and ‘one’ chance robbery was arrested at Azubuike Estate at Okporo, Obio/Akpor LGA.
CP Nwonyi further stated that on Friday 14th July, with help from community members, the Police arrested Otamiri Chinedu at Olakwo, Etche LGA who kidnapped four students lawyers in 2022 in the LGA.
Meanwhile operatives of Agbali Park Division on July 15 at about 4am at Kaduna Street by Aba Road intercepted a Toyota primer car, two of the occupants ran away on sighting the Police leaving the woman blinded folded in the vehicle.
CP Nwonyi said the victim when rescued by the Police, narrated how she was kidnapped at Okija Street, Mile 1 Diobu Port Harcourt on July 7, 2023.
In a related development, Azikiwe Police operatives on stop and search along Lumbumber by Emenike Street, Mile 2 Diobu on July 17, arrested Christian John aged 20 with a locally made pistol and some other iron were recovered from him.
CP Nwonyi urged the public to cooperate with the Police to eradicate crime in the state.
