Internet Fraudsters: Complainant Raises Alarm Over Suspicion To Truncate Justice

A resident of Eagle Island, Port Harcourt and one of the nominal complainant in the case of alleged burying of new born baby alive by suspected ‘yahoo’ boys in the area on August 23,2023 has raised alarm over plans by some influential persons in the society to truncate justice.

The complainant, Alhaji Orlu Ibrahim Nyekachi in an interview with our reporter said available information to him is that some powerful people in the society were planning putting efforts, putting all  resources and pressure on the Police to release the suspected ‘yahoo’ boys who were suspected to have buried a child alive in Eagle Island, Port Harcourt.

Alhaji Orlu called on the Police to continue to be professional and diligent in their job, and not to yield to pressure from powerful men in the society.

He said “They should do a thorough job and carry out investigation, since the child’s blood is crying for justice. I still have confidence in the Police to ensure that justice is done to the child because the child is crying for justice and we will all put efforts to ensure the he gets justice”.

Explaining what transpired on that fateful day, Alhaji Orlu said he was in his house, when he heard commotion outside.

He said he came out from his house and  saw men of PHALGA security watch and the Police with some boys they rounded up. He suggested that the suspects should be taken to the Police for investigation.

The resident revealed that when they went to the Azikwe Police station at Illabouchi on the fateful day, they made statement.

He disclosed that after dropping their statement, the case was transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID),Port Harcourt where he made another statement .

Alhaji Orlu opined that the Police should be professional by conducting Autopsy on the baby to know the cause of the death and secondly, make effort to know the mother of the child, and how  the child was abducted.

He said If anybody who claims to be the mother of the child comes up, the Police should also carry out investigation to know if she gave birth to a child on that fateful day and what happened to the child.

“If the mother claims the child died in the hospital, the hospital should also feed us on what happened, there should be a medical report too.

“If this people are found culpable in the course of investigation, they should be charged to court, Alhaji Orlu said”.

Recall that some suspected ‘yahoo’ boys were arrested by the Police in collaboration with men of PHALGA security watch on August 23,2023 for allegedly burying a new born baby alive at Andoni waterfront, Eagle Island.
