Police Arrest Killer Of Police Inspector 

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka says the command strike force has arrested one of the killers of an Inspector of Police at Rumuodogo 1, in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.

CP Emeka made the disclosure in a press briefing last week Wednesday at the Police headquarters, Moscow road, Port Harcourt.

According to him, the operatives of the Command on August 29th, 2023 at about 8:00am, acting on a tip-off that one Godspower, a.k.a. “Jamanto,” a notorious cultist/kidnapper who had been terrorizing Rumuodogo axis of Emohua Local Government Area over the years and had been on the Police watch list, was sight at Rumuodogo 1 community, the Command strike force team mobilized to the community with an unmarked vehicle.

CP Emeka stated that the suspect, upon sighting the vehicle, took to his heels, but after a hot chase, he was arrested. According the Rivers Police Boss, information had it that the said cultist/kidnapper, in company of one Vincent, a.k.a. “Vampire,” in month of July,2023 armed themselves with an AK 47 rifle with six magazines and shot dead a male Inspector, Ogno Alite in his house in their community.

The suspect is currently undergoing interrogation while efforts were being intensified to recover the AK-47 rifle from him.

Relatively, Police operatives of the command attached to the C4i Intelligence Unit, last week while acting on credible intelligence, around Choba axis, arrested One Promise, aged 38years at Lobia Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Baylesa State, who allegedly led the kidnap of a male  victim on 5th of August 2023, around Uniport, Choba axis, and was later released.

CP Emeka explained that the same kidnappers called the victim’s line and collected another two million naira after his release.

He disclosed that the same kidnappers called the released victim again to bring another 3 million naira to the Choba area of Rivers State, where one of them met his waterloo.

The Rivers police boss stated that the fatally wounded kidnapper was  rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital for treatment, but later died.

He revealed that the victim’s sim card was recovered from the dead suspect while efforts to get other suspects were ongoing.

He also announced the arrest of one Uche  at the Trailer Park, Onne while robbing drivers along the road in company of two other members of his gang.

The Rivers Police Boss said one locally made gun was recovered while investigation was on to arrest other members of his gang.
