Rumuekpe People Celebrate Elevation Of Traditional Stool

It was celebration galore over the weekend in Rumuekpe Clan, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State as all the political factions in the community and their friends abandoned their differences, came together to celebrate the eventual recognition and upgrading of their traditional stool to second class status.

Speaking at the event which held at Omegwa play ground, Rumuekpe, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Lawson Igwe thanked everyone who found time to come and celebrate with them, describing the development as a landmark achievement.

He recalled that the move for the recognition of the traditional stool and its classification has been a tedious one, adding that at a point they were even asking for classification to the last rung of the ladder and expressed gratitude to God that it eventually came to fruition at their time and promised the cooperation of all to achieve set goals for the betterment of all.

Ven. (Dr.) Chikodi J. Wachukwu of St. Paul’s (Ang) Church, Elele Alimini who dedicated the event and stool to God, prayed for the peace, unity and progress of Rumuekpe, advising that they should forgive one another and work towards one goal as according to him, peace is necessary for development.

The chairman of Rumuekpe Council of Chiefs, Chief Onyeahala Okwudu thanked God and the immediate past Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike for wiping out heir tears with the recognition and classification of their stool and promised the occupant of the stool, HRH, Eze Christian A. Evekwuru (JP) of their unalloyed support.

The Vice Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) Central, Mr. Gospel Edwin on behalf of the CDC chairman said they were grateful over the development and promised to work cooperatively to achieve peace and unity in the community.

The Paramount Ruler, HRH, Eze Evekwuru (JP) in his remarks, thanked everyone who contributed to  the feat.

The monarch used the opportunity to speacially thank HRM. (Hon) Ohna Segeant Awuse for his indelible contributions for them and as well congratulated him over his recent appointment as the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council Chairman.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award of excellence to the paramount ruler for his efforts.
