Rivers Anglican Bishops Endorse Gov Wike’s Second Term

Anglican Bishops and Clerics from all the Dioceses in Rivers State have endorsed the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for a second term.

The Anglican Bishops and Clerics made their position known at an interactive session with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Speaking on their behalf, Anglican Bishop of Okrika Diocese, Rt Rev. Tubo Abere said that the success of Governor Wike in the forthcoming election has been written on the sky.

He said Governor Wike has done well for the state, noting that his works had marketed him to the people.

“This one is our own. You cannot see your own and choose another one. We will be behind you come rain, come shine. The victory has been won by God.

“What is there for us to do is to pray and believe. Our dear governor you are working. Success is for you. No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper”.

Venerable Alex Usifor said that that Governor Wike deserves the support of the people. 

Venerable Bela of Ahoada Anglican Diocese said that they will re-elect Governor Wike with their votes.

Responding, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike urged Christians to actively participate during the elections to ensure that the right leaders were elected.

Governor Wike said the way Nigeria was heading, it needed to be rescued and handed over to a leader that will revive it for the benefit of the people .

He said: “Nigeria is not moving well. We have to take our destiny in our hands. You know where things are going wrong and the right action to be taken “.

The governor said that Nigeria does not belong to one entity . He said Nigeria belongs to all groups and no group should play second fiddle.

He said given the opportunity of a second term, he would continue to support the Church and create avenues for more productive engagements.

Governor Wike said Rivers People must work for a new direction at the Federal Level because the current administration abandoned the state for four years.

He described the imbalance in appointments at the Federal Level as ugly. He said the recent posting of commissioners of police was one of the most ridiculous in recent times.

Prayers were said for Rivers State and the peaceful conduct of credible elections in the state.
