Police Strengthen Ties With Monarch To Enhance Security

In a bid to enhance security at Okporo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Govt Area and its environs, the new Divisional Police Officer at Okporo Police Division, SP Abubakar Ahmed has pledged to cooperate with the traditional authorities of Okwurusi Kingdom in minimizing crimes in the area.

He made the promise during a courtesy visit to the monarch of Okporo, HRH Eze/Igo Eze (Sir) Morgan Nweneda Amadi, Eze Oha of Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom. SP Ahmed who was recently deployed to Rivers State noted that security is the business of everybody and stressed that he would rely on the cooperation of all and sundry in combating crimes.

According to him, the collaboration between the police and the traditional institution would be strengthened so as to tackle all forms of social vices, saying that being done, it would send a clear signal that criminals and robbers no longer have a hiding place in the various communities.

The monarch in his response said that the activities of miscreants had been minimal and solicited the cooperation of the new DPO with the traditional authorities to sustain the existing peace in the area.

Eze Amadi assured his visitor of total cooperation and that the Okporo Okwurusi Kingdom is known for peace, stressing that his people are peace-loving but principled to a fault while upholding the truth.

He reiterated that as a traditional ruler, he would not leave any stone unturned in complementing the efforts of the state government and that police being the law enforcement arm of the government, he would continue to support them especially with the new community policing policy of the current IG which he described as a welcome development. He also noted that the community policing policy would be of great help to the formal security agencies to reduce crime, protect lives and properties and also provide intelligent information to the police.
