Late Dorcas Kalu Laid To Rest In Abiriba

The body of Late Dorcas Enyidiya Okoji Kalu, aged 103, has been laid to rest over the weekend in her country home, Amogudu Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church gave a good account of themselves as they danced, displayed and evangelized the words.

Presenting the sermon during the funeral service, jointly performed by the Abiriba District and Diobu Province, Port Harcourt, of the Church, Supervising Apostle, Solomon Nwosu made it clear that Hell and Heaven is real, admonishing Christians to make haste while the sun shine.

According to the cleric, “Our actions and inactions determines our destination when we die. The legacies we leave behind while alive is what we shall be remembered for” he said.

The minister, however, made it known that blessed are those who lived and died in the lord, for they shall rest from their labour, quoting Rev. 14:13.

He added that ones records of deeds are carefully kept and would be opened on the judgement day, advising that Christians should make their way straight, while alive as death can knock at any time.

Reading the biography of her mother, Mother-in-Isreal, Mercy Onwubiko, said her mother would be most remembered as a philanthropist per excellence.

“Most significantly mama would be remembered as one with a strong faith in God even when she lost six (6) of her eight (8) children within a twinkle of an eye, she continued having trust and confidence in God”.

Mrs. Onwubiko also said her mother was one who was hardworking and contended with whatever she has, virtues which she noted are very rare these days.

“In her social life, she was very active and contributed immensely to the age grade and was instrumental to the building of the famous Egwuana Girls Secondary School, Abiriba.

In their tributes, Super Apostle Nkata Ebi of Abiriba District of the church said mama was a devout Christian and committed member who would be missed as a mother of all.

“She is always advising the young ones at any point in time, praying God to accept her soul”.

Also, Dr. Echeghe Robert, one of the deceased nephew and closed pal, on behalf of the family (Ikwunne Eke), lamented that mama took care of all that came her way, adding that if them the relation follow her footsteps, things will be easy for them. He described mama as a hardworking mother and a unifying factor in the larger family, lamenting that they will missed her greatly.

In his tribute, the head of the family, on behalf of the village, Chief Onuoha Okoji while thanking the ESOCS church for the befitting burial given their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ma Enyidiya Okoji Kalu, he also talk how she helped her husband to build up the larger family through her good virtue and prayed for the repose of her peaceful soul.

Mama was survived by two children, grand and great grand children.
